Getting Started with QuranLearnify
How do I start with QuranLearnify?
Book a free trial through our free trial page or by messaging us on WhatsApp, telling us the student's age, current level and preferred class times. We match you with a certified male or female teacher within 24 hours, and the student takes 3 free trial classes before you choose a monthly plan.
What happens during the free trial?
You get 3 real, live one-on-one classes with an assigned teacher, who listens to the student recite, assesses their current reading, tajweed or memorization level, and sets a personal learning plan. There is no card required at this stage and no obligation to continue afterward.
Which course should a complete beginner start with?
Almost every student who cannot yet read Arabic starts with Noorani Qaida, which teaches the letters, their sounds, the vowel marks and how words join together. From there, students move on to Quran Reading (Nazra) and then to Tajweed or Hifz depending on their goals.
Is QuranLearnify suitable for someone who has never read Arabic before?
Yes. Around a third of our adult students and most young children begin completely from zero in the Noorani Qaida course, which builds Arabic letter recognition and reading skills gradually with a patient teacher trained specifically to teach absolute beginners.
How long does it take to see progress?
Most students and parents notice a difference within the first month of regular classes, confirmed by a written monthly progress report. Full milestones vary by course: Noorani Qaida typically takes 3 to 6 months and full Quran reading takes 9 to 18 months, both at 3 classes a week.
Do you teach students outside the USA, UK, Canada and Australia?
Yes. While most of our students live in the USA, UK, Canada and Australia, we also teach in Germany, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, Singapore, Japan, South Africa and more than 40 countries in total, since classes run 24 hours a day in every time zone.
Classes and Teachers
Are classes one-on-one or group sessions?
All QuranLearnify classes are live, one-on-one video sessions between a single student and their teacher. There are no group classes and no pre-recorded videos, so every minute of the lesson is spent on that student's own recitation, questions and correction.
How are QuranLearnify teachers qualified and vetted?
Teachers are huffaz and qaris, most holding Ijazah in Hafs an Asim or a degree from institutions such as Al-Azhar University, the Islamic University of Madinah or Jamia Binoria. Every teacher also passes a recitation test, a teaching demo, a background check and online-teaching training before joining our team. Read more on our teachers page.
Can I request a female teacher?
Yes. About 45% of our teaching staff are women, and you can select female teacher when booking your free trial. Female teachers are available for every course, from Noorani Qaida to Tafseer, and many parents specifically prefer one for their daughters or wives.
Will my child have the same teacher for every class?
Yes. Continuity is part of how we teach: your assigned teacher stays the same for every class so lessons build on each other properly, and a designated backup teacher is on file in case your regular teacher is ever unexpectedly unavailable for a session.
What languages do QuranLearnify teachers speak?
Every teacher is fluent in English, and many also teach comfortably in Urdu, Arabic, Hindi or Bengali. Tell us your preferred teaching language when booking your free trial, and we will match you with a teacher who can explain rules clearly in that language.
What if I am not happy with my assigned teacher?
Let our support team know by WhatsApp or email and we will rematch you with another teacher at no extra cost and no awkward conversation required. Matching is based on the student's goals, schedule and preferences, and getting it right matters more to us than keeping a mismatch in place.
Pricing and Payments
How much do online Quran classes cost?
Plans are priced per student for 30-minute one-on-one classes: Starter is $35 a month for 2 classes a week, Regular is $49 a month for 3 classes a week (our most popular plan), and Intensive is $79 a month for 5 classes a week. There is no registration fee. See the full pricing page.
Are there discounts for siblings or families?
Yes. Families booking more than one student get 10% off the second student and 15% off the third student and beyond, all billed on the same monthly cycle. Contact us for a custom quote if more than three children in your family are learning together.
Do you offer 45 or 60 minute classes?
Yes. A 45-minute class costs 40% more than the standard 30-minute price, and a 60-minute class costs 80% more. Longer classes often suit hifz students, advanced tajweed learners and Ijazah candidates who need more recitation time within a single session.
How do I pay, and is it a contract?
Payment is by card or PayPal, billed monthly in advance for the classes in that month. There is no long-term contract of any kind. You are free to cancel or pause your plan at any time, and there is no registration fee on any plan.
Is there a free trial, and is a card required?
Yes. Every new student receives 3 free trial classes with no card required and no obligation to continue. You only enter payment details once you have taken the trial classes and decided to choose a monthly plan afterward, so there is nothing to cancel if it is not the right fit.
What is your refund policy?
If you are not satisfied within your first month of paid classes, any unused classes from that month are refunded. Contact our support team by WhatsApp or email and we will process the refund without a lengthy justification required from you.
Kids and Parents
What age can my child start Quran classes?
Most children start around age 4 to 5 with Noorani Qaida, though we have taught students as young as 3 with a parent sitting nearby during the class, and there is no upper age limit for children or teenagers joining later.
Can I sit in on my child's class?
Yes, always. Parents are welcome to sit in on any class at any time, and many do for the first few lessons before stepping back. Classes can also be recorded on request if you would like to review a lesson together afterward.
How will I know if my child is actually learning?
You receive short lesson notes after every class, a full monthly progress report, and a quarterly assessment from a supervisor who is not the regular teacher, so your child's progress is documented in writing rather than only described to you verbally. See how it works for the full process.
What if my child loses interest or gets distracted easily?
Our teachers are trained specifically to teach children online, using short quizzes, praise, rewards and a pace suited to shorter attention spans. If interest still drops after a few classes, tell us and we can adjust the teacher, pace, timing or class length.
Are teachers background checked before working with children?
Yes. Every teacher passes a background check as part of our hiring process, in addition to a recitation test, a teaching demo and online-teaching training, before ever being allowed to work with a student, including young children. Supervisors also review recorded lessons regularly for extra assurance.
Courses and Progress
What courses does QuranLearnify offer?
We offer 11 courses in total: Noorani Qaida, Quran Reading (Nazra), Tajweed, Quran Memorization (Hifz), Islamic Studies for Kids, Quran Tafseer, Quranic Arabic and the Ijazah Program, plus dedicated tracks for kids, adults and students who prefer a female teacher. What is the difference between Qaida, Nazra and Tajweed?
Noorani Qaida teaches the Arabic letters, vowels and basic reading rules from zero. Quran Reading (Nazra) builds fluency reading the complete Quran with basic tajweed included naturally. The Tajweed course then goes deeper into every pronunciation rule for students who can already read reasonably well.
How long does memorizing the full Quran take?
With daily classes, memorizing the complete Quran typically takes 3 to 5 years, depending on the student's pace, consistency of practice between classes and prior reading fluency. Memorizing Juz Amma, the shorter final section, usually takes 4 to 8 months instead.
Do you offer an Ijazah program?
Yes. Students who complete Tajweed and read fluently can join our Ijazah program, reciting the complete Quran to a sheikh with an unbroken chain of narration back to the Prophet (peace be upon him) to earn a certified Ijazah in Hafs an Asim.
Can I combine two courses, like Hifz and Tajweed?
Yes. Many students combine Hifz with Tajweed, or Quran Reading with Islamic Studies for Kids. Your teacher can split the class time between both subjects, or we can schedule two separate weekly classes if you prefer a clearer separation between the two.
Will I receive a certificate when I finish a course?
Yes. Students who complete a course's syllabus and pass the final assessment receive a QuranLearnify certificate for that course, whether it is Noorani Qaida, Tajweed, a hifz milestone or the advanced Ijazah program. Certificates are a nice record of real progress, not just a participation badge.
Technical Setup and Scheduling
What do I need technically for online Quran classes?
A laptop, tablet or smartphone with a stable internet connection and a free Zoom, Skype or Google Meet account is all that is required. Headphones help the student hear pronunciation clearly but are not required, and we send a short setup guide before your very first class.
What platform do classes run on?
Classes run on Zoom, Skype or Google Meet, whichever you and your teacher prefer, with the teacher sharing a digital Quran or Qaida page on screen throughout the lesson. Lesson notes and quick scheduling questions are usually sent through WhatsApp afterward.
Can I choose the days and times for classes?
Yes. Classes run 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, so you choose slots that actually fit your routine, whether that means early morning, straight after school or a late evening slot in your own local time zone, whatever that may be.
How much notice do I need to reschedule a class?
Two hours' notice is enough to reschedule a class for free, and classes run around the clock so there is almost always another slot the same day. If your regular teacher is unexpectedly unavailable, a backup teacher can often cover the class instead. See our full scheduling policy.
What happens if my internet connection drops during a class?
Simply rejoin the same class link as soon as your connection is back and the teacher will continue from where you left off. Teachers wait a reasonable amount of time for brief disconnections, and if a class is cut noticeably short, we make up the lost time in a following lesson.
