Tafseer Turns Recitation Into Understanding
Tafseer is the discipline of explaining what a verse of the Quran means: its context, the reason it was revealed, the words scholars have used to explain it, and the guidance it carries for daily life. Without it, recitation stays at the level of sound. With it, the same verses you have read for years begin to speak directly to you.
Our tafseer classes are taught entirely in English, so no prior Arabic reading is required, though many students combine tafseer with reading or tajweed once they see how much the two support each other. Each class works through a small passage in depth rather than rushing across many pages, because understanding, not coverage, is the goal.
Teachers rely on recognized, reliable sources, chiefly Tafseer Ibn Kathir and Tafseer as-Sa'di, and are careful to separate well-established explanations from weaker or unreliable narrations that circulate online.

- Minutes 1 to 5: a short recap of the last passage and its main point.
- Minutes 5 to 20: the new passage read aloud, then explained in English with its context and reliable tafseer.
- Minutes 20 to 27: open discussion, where you ask questions and connect the verse to your own life.
- Minutes 27 to 30: a short summary and a note sent by WhatsApp or email for revision during the week.
