What Ijazah Really Means
Ijazah is not a course you simply finish, it is an authorization you are granted once your recitation has been verified as fully correct. The certificate is only meaningful because of the sanad behind it, a documented, unbroken chain of teacher after teacher reciting to student, reaching all the way back through the generations to the Prophet (peace be upon him).
Because Ijazah certifies that you can pass the Quran on to others exactly as it was received, the process is deliberately rigorous. Every juz is recited in full, every mistake is corrected and re-recited, and nothing is signed off until the sheikh is confident in your recitation without reservation.
Progress is tracked in detail throughout, since a program this long depends on knowing exactly which juz have been verified and which specific rules or verses still need repeated review, not just a general sense of how far you have come.

How It Works
The Ijazah Process
The same four stages apply whichever track you choose.

Initial assessment
A certified sheikh listens to your recitation, confirms you meet the prerequisites, and helps you choose between the tajweed track and the hifz track.

Full recitation of all 30 juz
You recite the entire Quran, juz by juz, from the mushaf or from memory depending on your track, with your sheikh listening to every word.

Correction and re-recitation
Every mistake, however small, is corrected on the spot and the passage is recited again until it is fully correct, with progress logged after each class.

Chain of narration documented
Your sheikh's own sanad is explained and recorded, so your certificate carries the documented isnad reaching back to the Prophet (peace be upon him).

Final certification assessment
A complete, uninterrupted recitation is assessed before the Ijazah is granted, marking the end of the verification process, not just another lesson.

Certificate and ongoing standing

How a Class Runs
Recite, Correct, Log, Continue
- Recitation: you recite the assigned portion, from the mushaf or from memory, while the sheikh listens closely.
- Correction: every mistake is corrected immediately and the passage is recited again until it is right.
- Logging: progress is recorded after each class, noting any rule or verse that needs further review.
- Next portion: the following section is assigned, continuing steadily until all 30 juz are verified.
